This page explains how Home Product Daily produces its articles — who writes them, how they are reviewed, how we handle sources, and how we update content over time. We publish this because readers should know what stands behind any product recommendation.
Our editorial principles
- Tested over theoretical. We use products at home for weeks or months before recommending them. Manufacturer spec sheets are a starting point, not the article.
- Independence. Advertisers and affiliate partners do not influence editorial decisions. Sponsored content, if we ever accept it, will be labeled.
- Honest about trade-offs. Every product has compromises. We name them.
- Updates. Articles are dated and updated when products, prices, or our recommendations change in meaningful ways.
- Corrections. We correct errors openly with a visible note.
How we source articles
For each article we consult, in order of priority:
- Hands-on testing in our own homes
- Independent professional reviewers — Wirecutter, Consumer Reports, RTINGS, GoodHousekeeping Institute, Which? (UK), and equivalent trusted publications
- Manufacturer documentation — owner manuals, technical spec sheets, official safety guides
- Regulatory and safety bodies — ENERGY STAR, UL, CPSC, FTC guidance on advertising and disclosures, EU energy and safety standards
- Verified owner reviews at scale — patterns across hundreds of reviews on multiple retailers, treated with skepticism due to manipulation
- Interviews with category specialists, retailers, repair technicians, and trade contractors where relevant
Reviewer process
Articles covering electrical appliances, gas products, structural installation, or anything safety-adjacent are reviewed before publication by a contributor with relevant trade experience. Reviewed articles include a “Reviewed by” line.
Affiliate disclosures
When we recommend products, we include affiliate links to major retailers. If you buy through one of these links, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships are disclosed within each post. We never recommend a product solely because of an affiliate relationship.
We participate in the Amazon Associates Program and similar affiliate networks. Some retailers have higher commission rates than others — we do not let this drive our recommendations.
Sponsored content
We do not currently accept sponsored articles or paid product placements. If we ever do, sponsored pieces will be clearly labeled and held to the same factual standards as editorial content.
Updates and corrections
Each article shows a publish date and an updated date when material changes are made. Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of an article. Cosmetic or minor edits (typos, broken links) are made silently. Discontinued products are flagged or replaced.
